It’s tax season, and we want to talk about audits – but not the kind you’re thinking of!
It’s a home energy audit from MacFarlane Energy! And with the current international conflicts leading to volatile fuel prices, our home energy audit is more important than ever!
A home energy audit gives you control over your energy costs through conservation. When you make home improvements that reduce your energy requirements, you limit your exposure to volatile energy prices and keep monthly expenses on a tight rein.
Here’s how a home energy audit works:
When we visit your home for your energy audit, we perform an extensive battery of tests over the course of one to three hours. You’ll learn which energy efficiency, comfort and safety improvements can be made, and we will help identify short- and long-term solutions to drive down your energy consumption.
What happens next?
Upon completion of the audit, we’ll present you with a report that covers your home's insulation and air sealing, the efficiency of the heating and cooling equipment, the efficiency of the lighting, and health and safety issues. You can use the report as a basis for your energy conservation campaign.
If we find that the efficiency of your heating and cooling equipment is not up to par, we can advise you about:
- Upgrading to high-efficiency equipment that can cut energy bills by 30 to 50 percent
- Installation of heating and cooling accessories, such as microprocessor-based controls and programmable thermostats, that deliver savings of 10 percent or more for a small upfront cost
- Energy-saving equipment maintenance that can improve operating efficiency by 5 percent or more
